Abby and Rory have set the date! They will be married 09/09/09 in the Logan Temple and then have a reception in Woodruff that night followed by a reception in Seattle that weekend. Yeah......for the road trip we will get to take. I think Brian and I will take a few days after the reception in Seattle and have a little honeymoon of our own :)
This past month Brian and I have been able to go on double dates with both of our sons and their girls. I have to admit that I have had a blast. (I don't know if Rory and Kade enjoyed it quite as much as me......but hey....what can I say!!!) Kade has been dating a cute girl named Baylee from Enterprise. He hooked up with her through one of his friends on Enterprises' football team last year. They have been talking and texting on the phone for over a year now. They seem to have really hit it off and she is thrilled that he is going on a mission too. (Every mother's dream girl huh?) We went to a movie and dinner with them.
Yesterday, we went to Logan and met Rory and Abby. We were able to go with them to meet with the photographer they are having for their wedding. I am thrilled with their choice. I think he will do an awesome job. Then we went to dinner at The Olive Garden. It was fun to just sit and talk and eat. They also got us tickets to go watch the Utah State basketball team play Cal State Bakersfield. It was a fun day and I enjoyed spending more time with Abby and getting to know her better. I don't think I could have picked a better daughter in law if I would have been able to pick her myself and the best part is that she makes my son very very happy :)

Celebrating over 200,000
My mom has been helping with extraction work for the church for a couple of years now. She keeps track of how many names she does each day. Recently she passed the 200,000 name mark and we decided to celebrate. We all met in Evanston and had dinner together as a family. It was fun and hopefully she knew how proud all of her family is of her for her dedication to the work.

The Land of the Long White Cloud
After nine days of waiting.....the mission call finally arrived. Aunt Lorri called at about 8:30 yesterday morning to tell us that we needed to come visit her at the post office because the call was there. Our only dilema then was how we were going to get everyone together for him to read it. Dad was clear over in Wyoming at work and Rory and Abby had classes at Utah State until 2:30 that afternoon. Kade didn't want to wait that long to open it. We decided that he and I would jump in the car and drive to where Dad was and then open the call with Rory and Abby on the speaker phone. We picked up the call from the post office and headed down the road towards Kemmerer. 
We called Brian just as we were arriving in Kemmerer and he told us to head north towards Big Piney because he was working nearing the Shute Creek plant. We headed north on not so great roads (why does the wind blow continually in Wyoming?) I knew that not too far down the road that I would need to turn off the main road and head in another direction. I told Kade to call and ask Brian where we needed to turn. Brian didn't answer his phone. We called over and over again and he still didn't answer. I was starting to get a little nervous and didn't know what to do. I knew Kade was anxious to get his call opened. Finally, Brian called us back. He had just realized he didn't have cell service where he was at and had to drive up the road a little ways to reach us. He told us where to meet him at. We were going to park near the banks of Green River and open it. That would have been really appropriate because many of Kade's ancestors had crossed that river on their way to the Salt Lake Valley in order the fully embrace the gospel he will be going to preach. We couldn't get cell service there though and Kade wanted Rory and Abby to be on the phone when he opened the call. Dad took us a little further down the road until we had good service and Kade opened the call.
He will serve in the New Zealand Wellington Mission (English speaking) and he enters the MTC in Provo on the 6th of May. He was thrilled with the call. Brian, Rory and I all cried when he opened it. He was so cute.....he opened the other information that comes with the call and just happens to include a map of the area. He was like......I'm going to be out in the middle of the ocean!!!

Where in the world. . . .
is Kade going to get sent on his mission. The papers are in and we are expecting the call any day now. Seriously, I think I'm going to die before I find out.

When you get looking at it the world is a big big place. There are so many missions. Do you think he will stay in the states or go foreign? Let me hear your best guesses and I will post as soon as we know. As soon as Kade goes into the MTC the Woodruff Ward will have ten missionaries out at once. I'm so proud of the youth in our ward for choosing to serve their Heavenly Father.

I'm one step closer. . . .
to being a grandma! Yahoooo!!!!! Rory proposed to his girlfriend Abby today and she said yes. We love Abby and are thrilled with Rory's choice.
I thought Rory came up with a totally cute and unique way to ask Abby so when you see them ask them how he popped the question. Congrats Rory and Abby :) Love you both.

My Baby Turns 19
My baby boy turned 19 today. Where has the time gone? I've been very emotional all day long. The thought that this will be his last birthday at home for two years is hard to think about. My head knows that a mission is the best thing for him right now---my heart however is having a hard time dealing with it. It is a really good thing my sons are about seven years apart in age. I really don't know if I'm ready to send another son away for two years. Selfish I know---but how I feel. Happy Birthday Kade! I am so happy that Heavenly Father sent you to us 19 years ago.

Thanksgiving and Brian's New Calling
Over the river and thru the woods, To grandmother's house we go; The horse knows the way To carry the sleigh, Thru the white and drifted snow, oh! My mom would always sing this song as we drove to Salt Lake for Thanksgiving dinner at my grandparents house. This year we just drove down the round a few miles to my mother's house for dinner and as far as the white and drifted snow goes it was a bust!!!!
I love Thanksgiving! Always so much good food around. Our menu this year was pretty much the same as it always is. My brother Ryan deep-fried the turkey. I'm not a turkey eater anyway. . . .and it looked pretty much burnt to me. . . .but everyone else seemed to enjoy it. My mom always makes ham for me also since I don't eat anything that swims or flies. We had some great salads as well as the sweet potatoes (of which I'm not a fan either!) One tradition our family has for Thanksgiving is noodles. Instead of turkey gravy our family has always put noodles on our mashed potatoes. That may sound a little strange to some people but it actually is very good. My grandma Myers used to make her own noodles. We don't do that anymore. What happens is this. . . .you use chicken bouillon and make a broth which you bring to boiling. You add the noodles and cook until they are done. I thicken the broth and noodles with a little bit of flour and water mixed together. I like to add a little bit of parsley flake to the dish as well. Its yummy! You can make a full meal of this if you just add some cooked chicken to it.
One of the dishes that I provided for dinner this year is the stuffing. Several years ago a friend of mine gave me this recipe for Crockpot Stuffing so this is what I made. It was a big hit.
Crockpot Stuffing
1 cup butter
2 cups chopped onion
2 cups chopped celery
1/4 cup parsley sprigs
13 cups dried bread cubes
1 tsp poultry seasoning
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp sage
1 tsp thyme
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp marjoram
4 cups chicken broth
2 eggs well beaten
Melt butter; saute onion, parsley and celery. Pour over bread cubes. Add seasonings; toss and coat. Pour broth over cubes. Add eggs; mix thoroughly. Put in crock pot. Cover and cook on high for 45 minutes and low for at least 4 hours.
I cheated this year and bought onion and celery that was already chopped together up at Walmart. I just used four cups of that. I also grated up one carrot and mixed it it with the stuffing to add color.
Brian was recently called into the Elder's quorum presidency for the Woodruff Ward. The president is Jason Petersen and Monte Anderson is the first councilor and Brian the second. Chevy Huffaker will be the secretary. They set them apart yesterday during Elders quorum meeting. They rounded up all the wives to come in and watch. It was so funny we were sitting there listening when we figured out they had the wrong wife. Brother Hutchinson had gotten Ashley Huffaker to come in instead of Whitney Huffaker. Ashley quickly went and found Whitney so she could be there. It was nice and I think they will do a terrific job.
